For all its inspiring cultural history, the East Village is a little short on official landmarks, which is precisely why the Preservation League of New York State just gave the Greenwich Village Society for Historic Preservation a $13,000 grant to research potential landmarks. The GVSHP has already partly surveyed the area, and one building the group has suggested for landmark status is 101 Avenue A, a German hall in the 1800's and the longtime home of the star-birthing Pyramid Club. We'd also like to nominate the Russian & Turkish Baths, the Tile Bar and the brunch line at Prune. [Metro]
