A day after Mayor Bloomberg stuck to his guns by saying there's not enough money in the city's coffers to send out the $256 million in property tax rebate checks to city homeowners, Comptroller Bill Thompson said the money could come from the nearly $2 billion the city is rolling over into the next fiscal year. Et tu, Bill Thompson? Meanwhile, Bloomberg backed down from his harsh words a bit, saying he'll cooperate with the City Council on the rebate checks.
