Construction Watch: HL23 Blooms Over High Line

New, 46 comments

OK, so maybe we already had a look at early construction progress at architect Neil Denari's HL23 fairly recently, but while those pictures could have been any old pile of metal, the shots above are unmistakably High Lineish. Architectural photographer Benny Chan snapped the new photos, which were sent to us by the HL23 team to show that the trippy boutique building's steel tentacles are rising over the elevated tracks like a real life Dr. Octopus. Some of these photos were taken from the High Line itself (did he sign the waiver?), so we're starting to get a feel for how the 15-story building will relate to the park-to-be. Probably better than with its other neighbor, West 23rd Street frienemy Highline 519.
