SOHO?Here's something a little different: a chance to own one's very own piece of starchitecture. Per the Storefront for Art and Architecture on Kenmare Street, which has been blogging about it, it's "a benefit auction of four of the original cast concrete letters designed by Steven Holl and Vito Acconci for Storefront's facade in 1993. The letters sat on the cornice above Storefront's facade for 15 years, from 1993 until its renovation in summer 2008. Each one is a unique piece of New York's contemporary architectural history. Bidding starts at $1,000 for each of the letters. To make a bid, please send an email to RSVP@storefrontnews.org. In your email, please be sure to specify your full name, address and contact telephone number." Bidding ends at noon on Dec. 20. Shipping is extra. [CurbedWire Inbox]
WILLIAMSBURG?Was it just a while ago that we posted about the affordable housing at the Edge? Well, someone interested in the non-affordable housing is pissed off that Edge says it is having open houses on Sunday but isn't: "Please update your website if you do not in fact have an open house on Sundays from 12-3 as is clearly shown on the home screen. I made the trip to Williamsburg on Sunday in the rain only to be told by the woman in the office that not only were there no open houses, but that the sales office was closed that day and she was only there catching up on work." That would tend to cause some upset. [CurbedWire Inbox]
