The Avalon Bowery outpost of high-end Hamptons fashion shop Blue & Cream is, as Vanishing New York notes, "covering the neighboring Chase bank with postcards--taped to the door and the ATMs, stacked on the ATMs and the tables. Everywhere!" Hey, you gotta do what you gotta do, lest you end up getting Avenue B'd. Interestingly, those post cards highlight new Bowery landmarks such as the New Museum and Whole Foods (and Blue & Cream, 'natch), and even a vestige of the Bowery of old: CBGB. Sure, the legendary club may be a John Varvatos boutique now, but it's the thought that counts. Or maybe Blue & Cream is taking a veiled shot at Varvatos, mocking the designer for co-opting the gritty Bowery in the name of hawking $80 t-shirts. Eh, on second thought, probably not.
