While not as strange as when it was revealed that Yasser Arafat owned a piece of Bowlmor Lanes (that happened, right?), this legal development at 650 Fifth Avenue is certainly eyebrow raising: "The U.S. government is suing Assa Corporation, to turn over its 40 percent interest in the 36-story, 336,000-square-foot building, because the government claims the company is secretly controlled by an Iranian bank, Bank Melli, prosecutors said." The office building was built in the '70s by the Shah to pursue "Iran's charitable interests in the United States," according to the Justice Department's press release. [Real Deal]
