Yesterday's two play-in matchups for a ticket to the Big Dance, aka Curbed's Neighborhood of the Year competition, provided almost too much drama for the first day of Curbed Cup action. In the early match, Rich Man's Tribeca dispatched Poor Man's Tribeca on the strength of De Niro's charms, and a vote of 222-216. The other microneighborhood melee actually sat at a tie while we waited to close the polls. The needle finally shifted in the favor of the Far West Village, which toppled the Near West Village in a seesaw 193-192 vote. We'll have two Curbed Cup Round 1 face-offs coming up later today. Onward!
