Fun with Public Art: Viva Che!

New, 11 comments

First we have Stalin at Cooper Union. Now, Che Guevara in Central Park. Though protest cries have yet to ring out, German artist Christian Jankowski has installed a bronze effigy to the Cuban revolutionary in the park's southeast corner. Infamous for such facetious interventions, would-be reactionaries should note that Jankowski's statue is not of Che himself, but a street actor playing Che -- in Barcelona. How, like, Meta.
