Though current temperatures are hovering around -237 degrees with the windchill factored in, the building up of the Far West Side continues apace. Today, broker-blogger (and foremost Rockrose expert) Andrew Fine checks in with the megadeveloper's huge rental towers three blocks north of the West Side Rail Yards. At 455 West 37th Street (at Tenth Avenue)?which The Real Deal reported way back would have 394 apartments?prices start at $2,000/month for studios, $2,600 for 1BRs, low $3,000s for convertible 2BRs and the upper $3Ks for full-on 2BRs. The building (right) will open next month, and Fine writes, "thanks to the building footprint, even those with compromised views were bright. Rockrose will be paying brokers, so it will be no fee all around. While the location is challenging, it's priced accordingly." That's just Rockrose's warm-up. Their main event, the twin-tower, 835-unit rental complex on the west side of the street (505 West 37th Street), is currently at 20 stories?each?and climbing. To our friends at the MTA: That 7-train extension to 34th Street is going to be needed stat.
