Just when you thought it couldn't get any worse for The Plaza following Vanity Fair's dismantling of the luxury landmark and its $400 million renovation and partial condo conversion, the Times comes along to pooh-pooh the Plaza Retail Collection, the new high-end underground shopping mall. It's hidden from the street, it's not quite ready, it's nearly barren, it's a bad time for luxury retailers, Fifth Avenue already has enough shmancy stores, etc. [NYT; previously]
