Will Anyone Notice Subway Cars Without Seats?

New, 43 comments

Seatless subway cars made their debut in Boston yesterday and will be coming to New York City soon, but the bigger question is: will anybody notice? One dude on the seatless Boston train said: "I haven't gotten a seat in the last three months, so it makes no difference to me...Besides, people who need seats can always get on a different car." The way it works is that seats are locked to the wall during rush hour but that some cars have seats, you know, for the disabled and senior citizen and pregnant women. The NYC pilot will involve four cars without seats on ten-car trains. New York City Transit denied they'd do the experiment on the G Train for "shits and giggles" and pointed out the G only has four cars. [NYDN]
