Inside 290 Mulberry Street's Wavy Goodness

New, 20 comments

One of the coolest little designs to make its way into the world in 2007 was SHoP Architect's plan for 290 Mulberry Street in Nolita. The condo building doesn't look like much from afar, but the close-up rendering reveals what appears to be metal and vague undulation. Our first look at the building came last January, and one building collapse later, construction appears to be picking up at the East Houston Street site. Building guts can be seen rising above the plywood, and a Massey Knakal sign advertises the ground-floor commercial space (what, no Village Farm Deli rebirth?). We just checked out SHoP's website, and there appears to be a new crop of interior renderings on display. Have a look, if staring at a fake couple enjoying a fake sunset doesn't make you feel weird.
