More Insane Public Art: PS1's 'Urban Farm' in LIC

New, 18 comments

If the East River waterfall installations don't catch one's interest this summer, maybe the "Urban Farm" at PS1 in Long Island City will. The farm will be used to grow organic vegetables cardboard tubes "in a honeycomb pattern that goes up to 30 feet above the ground." The tube clusters will be held up by columns that use solar power to do things like play cricket sounds and charge cell phones. It comes from WORK Architecture, which won the annual design contest for the courtyard.
