Remember plans for Greenwich Street South? To refresh the memory: It's the area around and over the entrance to the Brooklyn Battery Tunnel and, in this Golden Age of the Deck, there have been plans floating around to deck over area and develop it. More than a million square feet of air rights could be sold to developers via a deck. Well, Downtown Express reports there's discussion about the plans again and Community Board 1 says that any plan will have to include a lot of affordable housing and parks along with plans for services to accommodate thousands of new residents. Another part of the plan would expand the Battery Tunnel bus garage and create 2.5 million square feet of air rights for residential development. Whether any of it happens is still up in the air.
