The Burg is getting another green building. This one is at 439 Metropolitan Avenue going up on the site of what is literally a bright green building on Metropolitan Avenue near the entrance to the BQE. The building will be a mix of apartments and office space and is coming from Helder Design. For those that track such things, it's NYC's first LEED Platinum rating for a mixed-use buildings. It's one of several green buildings going up in Brooklyn, including the Greenbelt, another Williamsburg building. The building will have the designer's architecture studio, two duplex condos and an art gallery. It will have a lot of green bells and whistles including passive solar design, radiant flooring, photovoltaics and exterior venetian blinds. As for the location, eh, not so green.
