Luxury Condos Come to Flushing, Find Buyers?

New, 53 comments

A 14-acre, $1 billion mixed-use development with 1,100 luxury condominiums spread over six towers built on top of a mall, featuring amenities such as a putting green, tennis courts and a health club. In Flushing. Yeah. Given the credit crunch, any analyst would probably tell you that launching a project such as Sky View Parc in today's climate is insane, but family-owned Forest Hills developer Muss Developmet is pushing ahead. And get this: the Daily News is reporting that 40 apartments have sold after just 10 days of business. Sound crazy? The developer credits the amenities and location (near the 7-train and the LIRR, easy access to highways and both airports) for the strong early sales, and maybe he's right? Stranger things have happened, but probably not in Flushing. Unit prices range from $400,000 to, gulp, over $2 million.
