"Like many Villagers, I have no opposition to the hospital's replacing the O'Toole building with a larger structure. There are many compelling functional reasons for a hospital to be large. The are no compelling functional reasons for the neighboring condominium project to be large. Smaller buildings are more pleasant to live in, are more pleasant for the neighborhood, and more appropriate for the historic district. The Rudins and the hospital just want an enormous condominium tower because it works out better financially." [The War Over Greenwich Village Begins Today]
