You can't make an omelet without breaking a few eggs, and you can't replace a pre-war façade with a new glass curtain wall without ripping out some classic detail. Such is the case with 1775 Broadway, the Newsweek office building scheduled to get a $60M makeover courtesy of the Moinian Group, and a new identity as 3 Columbus Circle. That makeover is now underway, John Massengale tell us: "Just walked by 1775 Broadway, where workers are busy knocking off the ornament so they can cover the building in glass and call it 3 Columbus Circle. Developers do the darnedest things."
