Of all the ongoing Carroll Gardens-area developments and proposals (Public Place, 360 Smith Street and Toll Brothers Gowanus venture to name a few), none has gotten neighbors more riled up than the former International Longshoreman's Association Building at 340 Court Street. Clarett Group is coming to Carroll Gardens to reveal plans for the site tomorrow and friendly neighbors have been busy putting up welcoming fliers and handing them out. In the meantime, they've actually started demolishing the building. Lost City writes, "bright and early this morning, said real estate titans were busy tearing down" the buiding "brick by off-white brick. Funny timing." The design will be coming from Rogers Marvel, which is part of one of the finalist groups for Public Place. In true current Carroll Gardens form, the development led to the creation of a new neighborhood group and blog.
