CROTONA PARK EAST?Yesterday, Mayor Bloomberg announced the creation of the Office of Environmental Remediation, which aims to clean up New York's contaminated "brownfield" sites. One of those sites is the former Edgewater Concrete Plant (which closed in 1987) along the western edge of the Bronx River, where the press conference was held. The 2.7-acre plot will be turned into a park called Concrete Plant Park, and per the renderings provided by the Parks Department, some of the old industrial charm will be repurposed as gritty props in the urban oasis.
