The East Village sure has come a long way since Jonathan Larson wrote in some lyrics to Rent, "They've padlocked your building and they're rioting on Avenue B." As a matter of fact, ever since the penthouse unit in the gorgeous Flowerbox Building on E. 7th Street between Avenues C and D sold for nearly $10 million, there really are no rules for the formerly gritty deepest stretches of Alphabet City. It used to be that if you ever ventured east of Avenue B, your mother would box your ears. Now we're looking at million-dollar listings in the neighborhood. Funny how that works, eh?
