Mayor Bloomberg just officially announced the car-free "Summer Streets" program we mentioned earlier, which will open up a 6.9-mile path for pedestrians and cyclists from the Brooklyn Bridge to 72nd Street on three consecutive Saturdays in August. The coolest thing about it, though, may be the talent that was lined up for the press conference: "The Mayor and Commissioner Sadik-Khan were joined at the announcement by Parks & Recreation Commissioner Adrian Benepe, Manhattan Borough President Scott Stringer, Lance Armstrong and David Byrne."
