The nasty fight over the use of the Kingsbridge Armory in the Bronx has dragged on for decades, with the community and city often at odds. The latest skirmish is between the Kingsbridge Armory Redevelopment Alliance and Related Companies, which has a $310 million shopping mall planned. The 19 groups in the coalition are threatening to withhold support unless Related guarantees wage and hiring standards for workers and tenants. They also want athletic, cultural, social services and recreational space, and opportunities for local entrepreneurs. [NYT]
