The Real Deal reports that Extell has backed out of a plan to convert the 86-unit apartment building at 10 West 65th Street near Central Park to condos or luxury rentals. Instead, they sold the building for $44 million, after buying it in 2004 for $23 million. Touro College is the buyer, and they'll use the apartments not occupied by rent-stabilized tenants as student housing. Said one 60-year building resident, "It will be lovely to have young people in the building again." [TRD]
