Despite all the doom and gloom about how Coney Island would have a miserable year, it turns out that the summer of 2008 could be very good. There are a bunch of new business that have opened in buildings owned by developer Joe Sitt, not to mention Beer Island. "The commercial boomlet comes at a time when many in the seaside neighborhood feared the area would be abandoned for years to come because plans to redevelop Coney Island could stall." [NYDN]
