100th Caller Gets a Free Stuy Town Apartment

New, 34 comments

Last week, megalandlord Tishman Speyer relaunched its massive East Side housing complex, Stuyvesant Town, by announcing the details of the longtime middle-class holdout's extensive makeover. That makeover includes new facilities?like a tenants' lounge and a screening room?renovated modern apartments, pricier rents and no one old enough to grow significant facial hair. This week, however, Tishman Speyer appears to be going even younger with the Stuy Town campaign. The company has teamed up with Z100, the pop hits radio station you listened to on your morning drive to Massapequa High School, to offer one lucky listener a free furnished apartment for one full year. With rents currently starting at $2,900 per month, that's a prize worth at least $34,800. Z100 has a website set up for the contest, which involves some sort of trivia component, and it appears that the furnished apartment is one of the Cetra/Ruddy-designed model units we checked out a while back. Does this mean that Z100 will be programming Stuy Town's outdoor summer concert series? If not, can we at least get the Pussycat Dolls to serve the non-renewal notices?
