Curbed PriceSpotter: Unaffordable Housing on the UES

New, 36 comments

PriceSpotter is Curbed's asking price guessing game. We provide you with some details and pictures from an apartment listing, and you take a crack at the price in the comments. Tomorrow we reveal the answer. And hey, no cheating!

What/Where: 6BR, 6BA (and two half-baths) townhouse on East 78th Street btwn Park/Lexington
Square Feet: 6,000
Taxes: $49,000
The Skinny: Haven't you heard? There's a shortage of unaffordable housing, meaning any property of note that hits the market will be both fabulously expensive and instantly snatched up. This five-floor (plus basement) townhouse with a planted garden is certainly notable, if only for that vaulted parlor-floor ceiling. Other things you'll find: separate entrance for the help, formal dining room, play room, two washers and dryers in the basement and a modern chef's kitchen with the trifecta?Viking, Sub-Zero and Miele. But how unaffordable is it?
