Starchitecture Alert: Riding the Bus With Richard Rogers

New, 18 comments

In this age of crumbling commercial real estate deals, the one wacky proposal that keeps on chugging is Vornado's proposed office building on top of the Port Authority bus terminal. In fact, the idea will take a giant step forward today, The Real Estate reports, when the board of the Port Authority will get a look at three potential designs. One of those designs, what has to be considered the frontrunner given the star power involved, is from Sir Richard Rogers, fresh off the heartbreak of having his WTC Tower 3 denied by Merrill Lynch. The other two designs are a mystery, but the rumor is that SHoP may be responsible for one of them. The board meeting is this afternoon, and there'd better be some slides!
