Week in Review: Port Authority Tower Contenders, Cooper Union's Mesh, Orchard St.'s Hell Bldg, More

New, 1 comment

As this Saturday gets underway, check out a selection of some of the top stories on Curbed this week.

1) Midtown: The Port Authority revealed the three finalists for the tower that would be built atop its Midtown bus terminal. Will it be the Richard Rogers? Cesar Pelli? or Kohn Pedersen Fox?

2) East Village: The meshy membrane is going up on the Cooper Union building and it's sure looking pretty cool.

3) LES: Parts of the Orchard Street Hell Building, the bane of its surroundings, started coming down.

4) Red Hook: It looks like there's evidence of Real World settling at Pier 41. Or maybe not.

5) Williamsburg: Anything that bills itself as allowing you to "live like a hipster king" and is a loft hostel in East Williamsburg/Bushwick is bound to get our attention.

6) Williamsburg: Sometimes a building lobby isn't just a building lobby. It's a deep and meaningful statement.
