If someone didn't know better, they'd assume that the historic BMT Power Plant on Kent Avenue in South Williamsburg was getting a facadeomy and that something would rise behind the wall left standing. The plant is being torn down by Con Ed, however, and what's amazing is the speed with which it's falling. All that's left on Kent Avenue is the front wall, which is being demolished brick-by-brick, and the rest of the building is being prepped for demo too. Guess it's time to relegate the renderings of what could have been done with the building if it had been preserved to the delete folder. The utility is likely to sell the cleared land for development.
