With the Lam Group's hotel development plans for 213 Pearl Street up in the air due to the credit crunch, one of the building's old tenants wonders what the rush was in demolishing the historic structure: "I am shocked and sad to see the building down and the lot vacant. I can't help but wonder many things: Was it necessary and what was the big hurry for tearing down the building? It is an unresolved mystery."
