When the Tenant Protection Act, a law that lets rent-stabilized tenants pursue legal action against their landlords for harassment, was passed a few months ago, we all knew that landlords would not take the legislation lying down. And kaboom, landlord group the Rent Stabilization Association (sneaky name!) has filed suit in state Supreme Court, challenging the legal underpinnings of the law. They argue that a city inspector cannot objectively evaluate whether something as hazy as "harassment" has taken place.
