CurbedWire: LES Hell Building Sold? Scarano's Bowery Combo

New, 11 comments

LOWER EAST SIDE?The long-stalled 22ish-story hotelish (or maybe condoish?) development at 180 Orchard Street, which has turned the block between Houston and Stanton Streets into something of a construction zone hell over the past four years, may be coming down. Even more than last time! Chief anti-180 Orchard activists LOCO (Ludlow Orchard Community Organization) sent out an e-mail saying, "While it is still a 'tip' from someone on the ground, everyone should watch 180 Orchard Street over the next few weeks because we have a feeling this one is going to pan out, based on the source: The word is that Morris Platt the developer sold the building - and what was built over these last 4 excruciating years IS going to be taken down ... Apparently, a 'larger corporate entity' has bought the site so D.O.B. web pages about this address should get updated with this info and help confirm things." [CurbedWire Inbox]

BOWERY?Architect Robert Scarano's finger building along the Bowery, 52 East 4th Street (also known as 52e4), is now sold out. That was fast! A building source writes, "Contracts went out on the last two floors at 52 E 4th St as a combo for $4.7M, which means we sold out the building in less than 4 months." Mazel tov. The kids do love that luxury, don't they? [CurbedWire Inbox]
