Curbed Wire: Dream Downtown Replacing Homeless Shelter, Gramercy Green Getting Bank

New, 2 comments

MePa?A tipster with a vantage point sends these pics updating work at the Dream Dowtown Hotel, which is the former Covenant House homeless shelter that shares an architectural heritage with the Maritime Hotel. Both buildings come from architect Albert Ledner, who also designed the endangered O'Toole Building. The pics show a lot of gut renovation work going on and our tipster observes of the final photo in the group that it "shows what must be multi story space with base of hotel. Regardless, can’t see how this would be a light filled space." [CurbedWire Inbox]

GRAMERCY?Yes, there is more to report about the now student-occupied Gramercy Green. Per a tipster: "Just walked by and saw the work order on the window of the remaining ground floor retail unit in GG --a frickin' HSB bank! We lost the Amish Market and gained a dorm, a Duane Reade and a bank. I don't mind the gentrification all that much, it is the repetitiveness that is bugging the hell out of me." [CurbedWire Inbox]
