Bicycle and pedestrian advocates are preparing to lobby the Bloomberg Adminstration to permanently ban cars from Brooklyn's Prospect Park. As things stand, cars are now only allowed to use the roads in the park for fours hours a day, two each in the morning and the afternoon, Monday through Friday. Says a spokesperson for Transportation Alternatives: "Now it's to the point where the cars are in the park for so few hours that we can't do too much more than go car-free and see what happens." The idea of banning cars entirely this summer, however, went nowhere. [Sun]
