Hospitable Brits Cut Little Mary Down to Size

New, 2 comments

As we warned a while back little old Mary, who sat quietly on Lafayette Street for the past hundred years, has finally met her match. At about the same time the ever-so-proper Firmdale Hotel clan held a topping out ceremony at their first New York hotel with a food fest on the open upper floors, where views across Little Italy and SoHo go on forever. The simple industrial-influenced red brick facade has started to go up over the 11 stories of steel. When it's finished this will be crowned the Crosby Street Hotel and owner / designer Kit Kemp will no doubt make the place as homey as prices will demand. In the meantime Old Glory will fly up top, signalling to all that Empires may crumble but good manners never die.
