Wind-swept saltwater from the NYC Waterfall under the Brooklyn Bridge is showering the waterfront garden of the popping-the-question emporium River Café. The result is that the restaurant's trees and plants are turning prematurely brown. A Parks Department official has a solution: "flushing the root zone to flush out any salt in the soil once a week and hosing down the leaves and foliage early in the morning." DUH! [NYP]
