Construction Watch: What's Up at 45 John?

To be honest, 45 John Street doesn't look like much from street level. Even Times puff queen Suzanne Slesin thinks it's understated. But look up, and that's when this typical Financial District condo conversion gets interesting. In addition to the "finest finishes and amenities of contemporary New York living" that architect Daniel Goldner is installing, the 12-story building at Dutch Street is also getting a two-story penthouse addition. Says the website, "Terraces have multiple exposures and are often accessible from the bedroom, kitchen, and living room, so indoor and outdoor merge effortlessly in the superb penthouse residences." Plural? Yep. As you can see in the rendering, the new growth is being carved up. Per StreetEasy, three penthouses are in contract. Any more lingering up there? ?EV Grieve
