Every time we think 15 Central Park West?the most successful condo building of all time?has run out of surprises, one jumps out, slaps us in the face and makes off with our wallet. Such is the case with this new Sotheby's listing for #38A in the "Tower" building. The pictures of the 3BR, 3.5BA, 2846-square-foot apartment in architect Robert A.M. Sterns's Limestone Jesus are dazzling, naturally, but that's not what makes this a blockbuster. And a blockbuster, it is.
Per StreetEasy, the apartment was bought by "Coastal Protective Services LLC." A little Googling shows that the wizard behind the curtain is casino magnate Richard Fields, a guy who knows a good bet when he sees one. He paid $13.35 million for the apartment back on June 18th. Now, less than three months later, that same slice of 15 CPW heaven is back on the market for $35 million. We'll quote another famous gambler who once said, "If you're gonna play the game, boy, ya gotta learn to play it right." Richard Fields, you, sir, are playing the game right.
