Some of the coverage of the reveal of 56 Leonard Street has mentioned the unfortunate timing of debuting a $650 million luxury living skyscraper amidst a backdrop of economic turmoil. But 56 Leonard, way up north in Tribeca, is a 20-minute powerwalk from all that financial chaos, which in New York is the equivalent of roughly six galaxies. No, for this juxtaposition to make sense, we need to get closer. Which is why we must thank developer the Moinian Group for scheduling the launch party for their Philippe Starck-designed luxury rental conversion at 95 Wall Street for this evening. Yep, that should suit the occasion just fine.
The building, officially called Dwell95, had been commanding some pretty hefty rents before the incentives started piling up. According to the invite, the building is "an opulent mix of playfulness and seduction," and if there's one thing Wall Street could use right now to cheer itself up, it's sexy funtime. The party kicks off at 5:30 p.m. down at Wall and Water Streets. Look for the red carpet, but by that time, the rivers of blood may have turned more than one carpet red.
