It's anybody's guess when the thing will be finished, but the first structural steel for the National September 11 Memorial and Museum at the World Trade Center will be hoisted into place this afternoon. Officials hope to have the landscaped plaza that will wrap around the two square voids and museum open in time for the 10-year anniversary of the attacks. But since today's steel erection will be halted for a press conference and photo op, it's already behind schedule. [NYT]
