There will be no spectacular implosion at Yankee Stadium. Instead "the ballpark will be slowly smashed to pieces" per a request for bidders on the $27 million job that was released yesterday. The demo could run through the 2010 season and will start with the removal of asbestos in 60,000 square feet of roof and 30,000 square feet of floor tiles. The plan is to have parts of the stadium that can be sold to collectors out by May. Spring 2010 is the target for making it all go away. [NYP]
