CurbedWire: Building Out West 12th Street, 505 Tops Off

New, 14 comments

FAR WEST VILLAGE?West 12th Street between Washington and West Streets used to be a quaint little West Village block, and thanks to Robert A.M. Stern's Superior Ink, FLAnk's copper-clad 385 West 12th Street and Cary Tamarkin's ultra-exclusive 397 West 12th Street, it will be a high-end architecture destination. The problem is, of course, that the construction of those buildings?along with the demolition of the old Gulf Coast building?is all happening at once. As a result, West 12th Street is something of a construction hell. Will the pressure turn this rock into a diamond? TBD! A tipster sent in a few current photos, above. [CurbedWire Inbox]

HELL'S KITCHEN?A topping-off party took place this afternoon at The 505 on West 47th Street, one of the new condo buildings trying to draw a younger, more affluent crowd to Hell. According to a press release, the 109-unit building is 95% sold. [CurbedWire Inbox]
