Construction Watch: Fifty Franklin Shows Its Pearly Whites

New, 8 comments

The mesh covering the facade of recent Development Du Jour Fifty Franklin has come down, and now the Rawlings Architects-designed building?on the wrong side of Broadway to really be considered Tribeca?is doing its thing for all to see. Notables about Fifty Franklin: the developer claims to have gone with smaller units as an alternative to the big pricey lofts nearby, there will be a spare studio apartment that can be booked by buyers for overnight guests, and the building is impossible to photograph. Seriously, Franklin Street is so narrow between Broadway and Lafayette that when you walk out of a building, automatic sliding doors in the place across the street immediately open. OK, we made that up, but it's feasible. Feasible we say!
