Plaza owner Yitzhak Tshuva and Apthorp/Madison Ave. clock tower/old New York Times building owner Lev Leviev are blamed for some pretty foul stuff on this side of the world, but that's nothing compared to how Israel feels about the megadevelopers right now. Plunging worldwide property prices are dragging down the value of Israeli pension funds that helped the two billionaires do their deals, and as Israel's biggest union is threatening to strike over pension losses, the two are being blamed for single-handedly importing the financial crisis to the country. Ouch! [Bloomberg]
