Markowitz Sour on Gehry, Sweet on Jacques Torres

Brooklyn Borough President Marty Markowitz who has been rethinking this whole Frank Gehry thing at Atlantic Yards as too expensive, is very, very sweet on another superstar in his field: Jacques Torres. It turns out he spent $6,000 in campaign fund buying chocolate at Jacques' little shop in Dumbo. The sourpusses at Common Cause say "This illustrates yet again the laxity of oversight and guidance" of campaign spending. It is unknown if any of the gift bags went to Mr. Gehry, but it does dovetail with the Brooklyn buy local holiday campaign. [NYP; previously]
