New, 5 comments

SOHO?We got a press release this afternoon announcing the topping out of former DDJ 350 West Broadway, which in the words of its marketers "will offer its residents Downtown-loft living with Park Avenue-inspired layouts." The developer is Aby Rosen, the architect is Moed de Armas & Shannon and the building is shooting for LEED certification. The expected completion for the eight full-floor residences is September. The 2BR and 3BR units start at $9.575 million. [CurbedWire Inbox]

GRAMERCY?This must be topping out day, because super-luxe resdiential building 57 Irving Place has also topped out. Not a lot to out here as the Audrey Matlock-designed building is only 11 floors with six residences. Key to Gramercy Park included. [CurbedWire Inbox]

EAST VILLAGE?That panic-inducing Mars Bar photo yesterday? Relax, it was only art. Per an email, "From the horse's mouth (Mars Bar bartenders and bar-backs) to me and you: Mars Bar is not closing. Each month, Mars Bar hosts a different art show and invites an artist to paint the 1st Street side of the building. My understanding is that the artist who did it this month wanted to comment on the rapid gentrification of the Lower East Side and the high attrition of neighborhood spots like Mars that really mark the place as home to longtime community members. It is poignant, and if you care, then keep Mars Bar open by supporting it - drop in to have a drink. Love, the regulahs" [CurbedWire Inbox]
