CurbedWire: Astor Co-Op Switching Sides, Stuy Town Layoffs?

New, 11 comments

UPPER EAST SIDE?Curbed hears that the listing for late socialite Brooke Astor's sprawling duplex at 778 Park Avenue (above) is about to move from Corcoran to Stribling. The dramatic "double-discount" maneuver brought the asking price down from $46 million to $34 million late last year, but even for stately Park Avenue co-ops, that's a helluva lot of cash in this crazy market. Corcoran's co-op superbroker, Leighton Candler, had been handling the listing (it's already gone from the Corcoran site). We're told there is no additional pricechopping action on the horizon. We wish our friends at Stribling luck. [CurbedWire Staff]

STUY TOWN?Well, now we know how Tishman Speyer will try to bridge that debt gap. A tipster tells us that Tishman has laid off "much of the staff" at the East Side rental megacomplex, including some senior management types. Our tipster fears the worst, because the newly departed staff includes people "you could count on to get things done." That's what you get for, um, doing things. [CurbedWire Staff]
