Thank God somebody in the city governmment counts up this kind of thing. The City Comptroller's office has estimated that every man, woman, and child in the city is responsible for $7,153 of the city's debt, which is the nation's highest. In real estate terms, one can look at this as one's share of a $59 billion mortgage. It's unclear if it's sub-prime. The figure is up 55 percent in the last eight year. [NYDN]
