Here's the $64M Grimshaw Coney Ampitheater

New, 9 comments

Virtually eveyrbody has finally caught on that some people in Coney Island are very pissed off about the proposed $64 milliion Jones Beach-style ampitheater that Marty Markowitz wants to build in Asser-Levy Park. There's an opposition group that's organizing and there's even talk of putting the thing through a public review process. But the real new news that is that a rendering has surfaced, even though it's not on the Grimshaw Architects website. The details of the thing, for which ground is scheduled to be broken in August, include: 87,200-square-feet, 110 feet in height, seating for 5,000 seats, about eight acres of space and a 10-foot-high wall fronting Surf Avenue.
